Ideas for Decorating with Greenery

Is it just us or does everyone's home feel completely bare and stagnant after the Christmas decorations come down? Rooms once filled with fresh greens and twinkling lights, are now in need of more brightness and signs of life. A new year presents the perfect time to refresh the spaces around your home. Our first order of business during the month of January? Styling areas throughout our home with fresh and faux greenery. Here are a few of our tried and true ideas for decorating with greenery.

Got an empty corner of the room where your Christmas Tree used to be? Consider adding a tall potted plant or a faux tree. Head straight to your local garden center for a real plant. Their interior greenhouses are stocked full of new arrivals during January. If you'd rather go the faux route, there are plenty of online retailers with faux options. Our favorites include Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Etsy, and Amazon.

(Secret tip alert - If you go faux, layer crumbled up newspapers inside your planter to build up a base to rest some faux moss on for the perfect finishing touch).

Layer fresh greens on your coffee table to add texture and color to your living room. Look for greens with varying color tone, shape, and height for a fuller and livelier look. We always find great options at Whole Foods, Fresh Market, or any local grocery store.

Add a vase of fresh eucalyptus to your kitchen island or dining room table. We're always adding this greenery staple to our shopping cart at our local Trader Joes. You just can't beat its price, and it stays fresh forever.

Finally, don't forget to show your bedroom nightstands and bathroom vanities a little love. A small floral arrangement in a simple glass vase is all you need. A bundle of white roses or tulips are our go-to. We promise it will bring a little smile to your face each day.
